AI Training Launches for Teachers

Artificial intelligence in education: opportunity or challenge?

According to a recent British survey, teachers are aware of generative artificial intelligence (AI), but many do not yet use it in their daily work. One of the main reasons is the lack of proper training that would help integrate the technology effectively into teaching. The situation is similar in Hungary: although the educational use of AI is still in its infancy, teachers are increasingly eager to learn about and use these tools.

Responding to this growing interest, Yettel’s ProSuli programme is launching a practice-oriented online AI course for teachers. The course not only teaches the basics, but also offers practical guidance on how to use AI effectively in lesson planning, simplifying administrative tasks and supporting teaching processes.

The impact of AI on teaching methods

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most significant technological innovations in education, fundamentally reshaping teaching methods. According to a British survey, 67% of secondary school teachers in England first encountered generative AI through ChatGPT, yet many still see it as a challenge. The research showed that nearly two-thirds of teachers do not use AI in their daily work at all, and only 40% regularly use it to check students’ homework or assignments.

According to the survey, 84% of teachers have not changed their assessment methods despite the arrival of AI, and many feel they lack the training needed to use the technology effectively.

Support for education: a new AI course for teachers

In Hungary, too, interest in using AI for education is growing, but many teachers are unsure how to integrate this new technology effectively. Yettel’s ProSuli programme offers a solution with a practice-oriented online AI course for teachers.

The aim of the course is to help teachers understand the basics of generative artificial intelligence, how it works and how it can be applied. Participants learn how to use AI for lesson planning, developing learning materials and easing administrative tasks. The course has a practical focus, so teachers can learn the right questioning techniques, so-called prompts, to get the most effective support from artificial intelligence.

“AI is no longer the technology of the future, it is part of the present. It has appeared in classrooms, and we teachers need to learn how to use it. ProSuli’s new course helps teachers integrate AI into everyday teaching confidently and effectively,” said Balázs Koren, head of ProSuli.

The importance of developing digital skills

Launched in 2015, the ProSuli programme has become one of the leading players in the digital training of teachers. The 30-hour course, accredited by the Hungarian Educational Authority and worth 30 credit points, focuses not only on using tools but also on developing teaching methodology. Over the past three years, 150 teachers a year have completed the course, and nearly a thousand teachers have registered on the prosuli.webuni.hu platform over the past 10 years, where they can learn the basics of digital education and refresh their knowledge through video lessons.

ProSuli’s goal is to further increase the digital competence of Hungarian teachers and schools by introducing AI-based educational solutions. The first online AI course will be held on 4 April 2025, with an application deadline of 28 March. Applications can be submitted on the programme’s official website.
